Gippsland will welcome an energetic new resident this month when Bank of Melbourne opens its newest branch in Franklin Street, Traralgon.

It’s the bank’s first branch in the region but its 70th overall, a milestone new Branch Manager Julie Musolino is very excited about.

“I live in Gippsland and I’m delighted Bank of Melbourne has decided to open a branch here,” Ms Musolino said. “Our bank is all about people and I think we can do some great things to help the community.”

The open plan, modern Traralgon branch opens its doors on April 15 at 9.30am but Julie and her team of six is already hard at work in the local area.

“My staff are all Gippsland locals with strong finance backgrounds,” she said. “We know the community well and customer service is going to be our biggest focus – that’s a major part of Bank of Melbourne’s philosophy.

“As well as providing great banking products and services to customers we want to support local business and community groups.“

Julie and her partner Tony live in Sale where her son Paul is an apprentice aircraft maintenance engineer. Her daughter Jasmin is at university in Queensland. Before switching to banking, Julie worked in a variety of tourism businesses on the Gold Coast.

Bank of Melbourne has been on a sharp upward growth curve since it relaunched in July 2011. More than 70,000 customers have opened new accounts and more than 800 Victorians are now employed by the bank. With a further five branches planned by the end of 2013, Bank of Melbourne is on track to grow its branch network to more than 100 within its first five years

Bank of Melbourne chief executive Scott Tanner said opening branch number 70 was a significant milestone for Bank of Melbourne and it was exciting to be part of one of Victoria’s growth areas.

“We believe Gippsland, and the Latrobe Valley in particular, have great potential for business development and Bank of Melbourne wants to be involved,” Mr Tanner said.

“We will be offering a genuine banking alternative to this community – one that is progressive, modern and innovative. Our branch will offer all banking services, including home loans, personal banking, business banking, insurance and financial advice.

“We pride ourselves on understanding communities and I encourage people to call into the branch and say hello to Julie and her team.”

Bank of Melbourne will have competitions, giveaways and plenty of fun to celebrate the Traralgon branch opening. Best of all, it’s offering some great deals on banking.
