Fees

While many of the major bank ATMs are fee-free, other operators may charge an ATM operator fee that will vary depending on the ATM you're using. The fee will be displayed on the ATM screen at the time of the transaction for you to either accept or decline before proceeding.

The ATM operator fee will be debited on the day (or next business day) of the transaction and itemised separately on your statement.

Please note, if you are a credit card cardholder, you can make payments to your card account at aBank of Melbourne, St.George or BankSA ATM by: ​
  • Making a deposit to the card account​
  • Transferring funds from linked accounts

 

ATM security tips 

  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Stand close to the ATM and use your free hand to shield and cover the keypad when entering your PIN
  • Before inserting your card, check if there is anything unusual on or around the ATM, especially right around the card reader slot
  • Do not push your card during the entry process and do not pull your card during the exit process
  • Never give your PIN to anyone or write it down
  • Check for any unusual transactions on your bank statements.

Accessibility

Multi-lingual ATMs

Our ATM screens are displayed in English as well as Chinese (Traditional & Simplified), Korean, Vietnamese, Hindi, Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic, Italian and Japanese. 

Audio Enabled ATMs

All of our ATMs provide audio guidance when transacting. Use any standard 3.5mm earpiece and our audio enabled ATMs will give clear verbal instructions in English and provide confirmation of your selections at each step. The tactile labelling at the ATM can assist you with:

  • Plugging in your earpiece
  • Inserting your card
  • Getting your cash and receipt

Bank@Post 

What you can do

At participating Post Offices, you can:

  • Withdraw cash (up to a daily limit of $1,000). However, cash cheque withdrawals are not permitted.
  • Make cash and cheque deposits (up to a daily limit of $7,000 for cash and less than $1 million for cheques. For mixed cash and cheque deposits, the total limit is less than $1 million per customer, of which no more than $7,000 can be cash).
  • Have your identity verified (for new Bank of Melbourne customers).
  • Make account balance enquiries.

Cash deposits after 6:50pm (Sydney time) at participating Bank@Post outlets on a business day3 or at any time on any other day, will not be processed until the next business day despite appearing immediately as available balance in your account, and may impact the interest accrual calculation on your account.

 

The Detail

  1. Only available for certain transaction, savings and investment accounts. You must be 18 years or older to use cardless cash deposits.
  2. Processing and cut-off times will vary depending on the time of day the cash deposit is made at an ATM or CDM. 
  3. A business day means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or a national public holiday in Australia.
