Update tax file number

You can update your Tax File Number in Online or Mobile Banking.

To update it in the Bank of Melbourne App

1. Login to your app
2. Click on Services in the bottom menu
3. Under My Details, click on Provide Tax File Number.

To update it on your desktop

1. Login to Internet Banking
2. Click on My details and settings in the left hand menu
3. Under My Information, select Provide Tax File Number.

A Tax File Number (also known as a TFN) is your personal reference number issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to identify you for tax purposes.

Each time you open an account that earns interest ​for example a savings account, you’ll be asked to provide your TFN. It is not compulsory to provide a TFN when opening an account, however if you choose not to provide your TFN, we may be required by law to deduct tax at the highest marginal tax rate plus the Medicare Levy from interest earned on the account.
